Library

My favorite time of day in my classroom is our Read Aloud time. I do this every day right after the kiddos get back from lunch. It's a time for them to relax and listen as they cool off from recess. Last year, I did this in the front part of my class on the rug. This year, with fewer students, I really wanted this time to be special, so we sit in the library. This change makes such a difference! We are almost done with our second book, The Mouse with the Question Mark Tail, and the kids are really into it! Our first book, Fortunately, the Milk, was a huge hit and one of my favorite books.

You can see that I have lovely colored book boxes. These are from Steps to Literacy and I have been pleased with them so far. I purchased the set of 40 for $130 with some money I won last year in a raffle. They fit lots of things and the students haven't destroyed them (yet). I have half on this side and the other half in the other corner on the counter. The students keep their workbooks in them and I find that it's nice for them to have a transition where they need to get up and come get them.
