End of Year Activity

My first year teaching, I had found the Perla beads and boards at IKEA. I knew this would be a perfect activity but never found the right time to bring it out. It requires me to bring an iron and be relatively prepared for this, so I saved it through the year. Then, the last week of school while everything is winding down, I took it out. The students, at this time of year, are typically bouncing off the walls. This was the perfect activity because they were so quiet and focused! The beads are pretty small and it takes a decent amount on concentration and coordination to make some of the complicated patterns. The students loved this and it was a perfect end of year activity. The best part is that the giant container of beads will last me at least four more years!
